GENERAL RELIEF
Policy
GR applicants/participants, ages 18 through 59 years and 11 months old, who are able to work, do not have any disabilities that prevent them from working, and/or do not have minor children (under the age of 18) under their custody are considered to be Employable.
As a condition of eligibility for GR, Employable applicants/participants are required to complete employment related activities (such as employment, education and/or training) by participating in the START Program unless they have a physical or mental health condition that prevents them from obtaining or retaining the employment.
Employable applicants/participants are subject to GR time limits. The individuals with an Employable status may receive GR for nine months in any 12-month period, provided they continue to comply with GR and START Programs requirements.

Employability Status
An administrative designation used to identify whether an applicant/participant is able to work.
Employable
A designation given to an applicant/participant who is able to work through self-declaration or as determined through a physical health examination and/or does not have minor children under their custody. Employable applicants/participants are required to participate in the START Program, designed to help them find employment. Employable participants may receive GR for nine months in any 12-month period, provided they continue to comply with the GR and START Program requirements.
