830 Partial Vocational Assessment

Policy

A partial Vocational Assessment is an unfinished Assessment requiring a follow-up Assessment appointment for the Assessor to gather specific information required to complete the Assessment and develop an Employment/Career Plan. The Partial Vocational Assessment may include testing not completed during the previous Assessment appointment. The GAIN Services Worker (GSW)/Contracted Case Manager (CCM) must contact the participant and schedule the partial Assessment appointment. Staff must work with the participant to address any barriers to participation.

The Partial Assessment must include a minimum of one of the following:

  1. Vocational Interview;
  2. Job Interest Inventories
  3. Structure Observation and Behavior Checklist;
  4. Multi-Aptitude test (Multi-Aptitude tests are used to determine the extent of acquired knowledge that a person has attained); and/or
  5. Work Samples (Assessments that require the participant to engage in activities that define motor skills).

Definitions

 

Partial Assessment

An incomplete Assessment due to a minimal gathering of specific information and/or partial testing, and the Assessor is not able to develop an Employment/Career Plan.

 


Requirements

The GSW/CCM must inform the participant that a Vocational Assessment is considered a Partial Vocational Assessment when one or more of these activities have not been completed:

  1. Vocational Interview;
  2. Job Interest Inventories;
  3. Structured Observation and Behavior Checklist;
  4. Multi-Aptitude test; and 
  5. Work Samples.

Verification Docs

The following documents are required to complete Partial Vocational Assessment:

  • GN 6006, Service Provider Referral, is provided to the participant to take to the Vocational Assessor.

  • GN 6007, Notice of Change from Service Provider, is used by the Assessor to notify the GSW/CCM that the participant did not complete the Vocational Assessment.

  • GN 6013, GAIN Vocational/Career Assessment Disposition, is used to identify the type of Vocational Assessment performed by the Assessor.

  • GN 6014, GAIN Vocational Assessment Summary and Employment Plan, is used to document the results of the Vocational Assessment.

  • GN 6130, Assessment Activity Agreement, is used to assign participants to Vocational Assessment

  • GN 6386, WTW Assignment Plan Acknowledgement Form, is used when a participant chooses an employment goal that will be completed beyond the CalWORKs 60-Month Time Limit.
