Management and Research Services
To convert existing policy to new writting style only. No concept changes.
Every fiscal year, the Department approves research studies of DPSS programs. Research studies are initiated, designed, and monitored by the Management and Research Services (MRS) Section in the Research, Evaluation and Quality Assurance Division (REQAD). At the conclusion of a study, a report with findings and recommendations is shared within DPSS, and transmitted with the Board of Supervisors, if appropriate.
Research is an activity built around systematic data gathering, particularly data from administrative records of participants or from surveys of participants, to address specific research questions. The objective is to reach policy-relevant conclusions about programs, participants, or departmental operations. This activity typically results in a written report, although there may be a presentation or briefing in lieu of a written report. The issue then becomes what to do with the recommendations and findings resultant from research. Therefore, a departmental approach to determining the applicability of research findings to Department programs and operations was implemented.
